In Montpellier, the student going-out scene centres on a few areas:
- Place Jean Jaurès - Central rallying point for going out, busy bars and terraces.
- L'Écusson (historic centre) - Web of pedestrian streets where cafés and bars fill up at night.
- Place de la Comédie - The city's main square and the focal point of central nightlife.
Getting home safely at night

How do I find out what is on in Montpellier this week?

Are student events expensive?
Many of the big ones are free (street festivals, open-air events, museum nights). University and ESN events are usually cheap or free for members. Budget a little for going out, and use the CROUS restaurants to keep food costs down.
How do I get home at night?
Check the city's night transport before you go out (night buses or late metro/tram, where they exist). Plan your route home in advance, keep some battery, and travel with people you know when you can.
